OUR BOARD MEMBERS
Cowlitz County CASA was founded in 1994. Since that time we have served almost 6,000 abused and/or neglected children right here in our own community. Without the support of a volunteer staff of approximately 45 case carrying CASAs and our Board of Directors, CASA would be unable to advocate effectively for these children.
Board Meetings are held on the first Monday of the month at 5:30 PM at the CASA Office
DAVE ANDREWS- PRESIDENT
Dave retired as the Director of Customer Services for Cowlitz PUD in 2014. He is a volunteer assistant softball coach at Lower Columbia College, hosts the Red Devils “huddle” for Fellowship of Christian Athletes in his home and also assists the LCC Foundation and Athletic Department in fund raising and game management. He is a lifelong Longview resident. He and his wife Linda have three grown children and four granddaughters.
Dave joined the CASA board in 2013. He also serves on the boards of Exodus Church in Longview and the Mark Morris High School Foundation – and is a past board member for Lower Columbia Community Action (CAP). He is grateful for the upbringing and education he received in Longview and takes great joy in giving back to his community – especially to children and students.
DAN JACOBS- VICE PRESIDENT
Danny retired from the City of Longview in 2010, following 30-plus years of service in law enforcement. He was born and raised in the area, graduating from Kelso High School, LCC and earning a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resource Management from George Fox College. Danny and Janet have been married for 47 years and have one grown daughter.
Danny has volunteered in multiple community efforts including the St. Vincent DePaul food bank three times a week, youth soccer (coach and referee) and at several local schools. He served the Community House board for eight years, before joining the CASA board in 2010. It’s Danny’s belief that it’s important to give back to the community and our youth are the future, making it of utmost importance to take care of them.
DAVID SCHATZEL- TREASURER
David was a CPA specializing in audits of non-profit organizations, before retiring in 2015. He served as a volunteer CASA and advocated for two cases prior to joining the board as its treasurer in 2002. His knowledge of non-profit finances has been extremely valuable to the board and staff of CASA.
David and his wife Kathleen are parents and grandparents, raising their children in the local community. David coached many of his children’s youth basketball and soccer teams. The Schatzels attend St. Rose Catholic Church where they volunteer in many capacities, including David serving the church finance council. David was on the original board of directors for Stageworks and was its treasurer for several years. He is currently on the Board of Directors of St. Vincent de Paul. David is an Eagle Scout and is the scoutmaster for Boy Scout Troop 385, which is sponsored by St. Rose Church.
